Organizational Development & Capacity Building.
-
Organizational development focuses on increasing an organization‘s ability to achieve its mission both now and in the future. We know building a transparent and fair organization requires a multifaceted approach that touches all staff, departments, processes, and systems. We are deeply committed to social justice— it leads to happier employees, improved organizational culture, better services, and transformational change.

Succession Planning: We work with organizations to address all aspects of succession planning including: Emergency Succession Planning; Internal Leader Development and Departure‐Defined Succession Planning.
Organizational Structure Development: we work with nonprofits to build internal capacity within the organization to meet its strategic goals. This includes:
Clarifying job descriptions, organizational chart, and new staff needs to align with organizational direction and help empower staff to perform their responsibilities and act as leaders in their roles.
Implementing and maintaining fair HR practices that align with organizational values and strengthen staff retention.
Aligning organizational structure with values
Increasing coordination and collaboration across roles and responsibilities through use of transparent decision-making.
Creating a flexible and transparent career trajectory and organizational growth plan.
Decision Making Clarity Training (using RACI / MOCHA): We help nonprofits adopt tools for establishing clear roles on projects. In most settings, projects involve contributions from multiple people. This is especially true in the nonprofit sector where we strive to collaborate, build coalitions, and seek perspective from communities most impacted by the issues we work on. Multiple people working together can generate greater participation, more just outcomes, and broader impact. And if we’re being honest, it can also lead to confusion. Furthermore, white supremacy resides in the unsaid aspects of organizational culture. Building a better organization means making the implicit → explicit.
Staff Retreat Design & Facilitation: We have deep expertise in facilitating discussions and decision-making through in-person and virtual environments. We leverage small groups, trust building exercises, real & virtual whiteboards, JamBoards, and collaborative platforms. We use trauma-informed facilitation practices to plan, create, and design engagements by co-creating shared values and aligning on metrics of success to build foundational trust. We work alongside our clients and focus on open and honest communication and feedback mechanisms to ensure a successful engagement.
